Several countries have implemented major measures for the effective prevention and control of further transmission, and domestic tourism is slowly starting to recover. However, it is unclear how the COVID-19 pandemic affected visually impaired individuals, which will make a valuable contribution in future studies. Apart from practical implications, the study also makes a theoretical contribution by proposing a new theoretical framework which outlines the major factors influencing the leisure tourism behavior of visually impaired individuals. Furthermore, this study proposed a specific definition of leisure tourism for visually impaired individuals. Physical obstacles linked to visual impairment are often perceived more serious than psychological obstacles. Therefore, travel companions/escorts, and tour organizers focusing on the visually impaired, and accessibility issues are contributing factors in making traveling a more pleasant experience for the visually impaired.
